Intro to Machine Sewing 1  CC030

(Level 1) Learn the basics of machine sewing... Start by learning the different parts of your sewing machine, how to thread your machine and wind your bobbin, and how to pin your material together to prepare it for sewing. Learn about seam allowance, how to sew straight lines, curved lines, and how to pivot your work. And last learn how to zig-zag on and off the edge of your fabric for a finished edge. Use your new skills to make a Kleenex holder and/or eye glass holder you will be proud to use.

Knit and Crochet with Sheilah — Focus on Tunisian Diamond Shawl     CA012

(Level 2 — basic crochet experience required.) Learn a new and easy, fun crochet technique — Tunisian crochet. You will learn all the basic stitches along with the foundation row, binding off, and blocking and finishing. Alcohol Ink Art & Shrink Plastic Jewelry — Demo and Sale with Artist and Creator Danna Phalen

Alcohol Ink Art — Ceramic Coasters     CP114

(All Levels — Ages 10 & up) Explore the vibrant colors of alcohol ink on glazed square or round ceramic coasters using various techniques to move the ink around. Blowing air through a straw, using compressed air and brush designs, create four one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Acrylic markers will be available to add special touches to the tiles. Inspirational stickers can also be added to the coasters before sealing. Students will practice on YUPO paper prior to painting on their tiles. Instructor will finish the student's coasters with resin. This class would be a great team bonding experience. Private classes can be scheduled!

Up-Cycled and Embellished Clothing     CC037

(All Levels) Whether it be a pair of pants, a flannel or even a skirt, watch how these garments transform as you add, alter and embellish. Learn how to use scraps of fabric, methods of layering, cutting away and raveling to create your own unique garment or purse! You can purchase a “stash kit” which will include a wide variety of fabrics from cottons to fancies, and laces and trims to further the inspiration of your soon-to-be original!

Crazy Patch Embroidery (Spring)   RE322

(Level 2) In each Crazy Patch Embroidery class, a different set of stitches is taught that can be made into a “stitch page", added to your crazy patch, or to a special project. April is part one of a three session wall hanging/runner class that you will be able to finish before Halloween! April's block: the witch. Featuring wool felting and slow stitched “pieced” fabric as the background, she has a felt body with thread embroidery as part of her clothing, some decorative beaded accents that makes this character one-of-kind! May's block: the cat, which also has a felt body with a needle felted head, and a pieced background embellished with touches of embroidery. June's block: the skeleton. This block has a stripped, pieced background with an embroidered skeleton body and felt head and hat. It is embellished with Sadi and metallic threads including some basic embroidery stitches. (All Levels) Back by request, Bountiful Blooms blossoms again at the InnGathering! Create a garden of layered fabric flowers embellished with lace, trims, and vintage sparkle — perfect for journals, gifts, or wearable art. Several original samples from our first class nine years ago became part of Chris’s published book, beautifully edited by a fellow InnGathering participant. Knit and Crochet with Sheilah — Focus on Estonia Lace Knitting     CA021

(Level 2) Did you ever admire a truly beautiful lace knitted shawl but were afraid to try your hand at making one? If so, this is the class for you. These gorgeous pieces originated in Estonia many generations ago and they all feature those very distinctive little baubles called nupps. Once you learn how they're made, you'll want to include some in all of your lace knitting projects. Sheilah will teach you everything you need to know to get started – from the cast on, to the magical stitches, to the blocking. Seagrass on Gourds   CP006

(Level 1) Natural materials coiled on and around the rims of gourds have always been a part of this wonderful art form. In this one-day workshop we will be working with seagrass, a glossy fragrant grass that blends beautifully with gourds. First a distressed dye application is applied to the gourd. Next, a basic weaving stitch will be taught along with techniques of adding grass and thread, hiding knots, wrapping and finishing. Finally the bowl is embellished with natural beads and shells.
