We are continuing to hold classes! And are adding classes frequently...

Some of our teachers are holding classes in their or our homes and a few other locations in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach. Check this page for classes available now and to find out when we are up and running in a store location with a full class schedule!

Kids’ Crochet  KC058

(All Levels — Ages 8 & Up) Beginners will start off with your choice of a crocheted hair scrunchie, cuff with button, zippered pouch for their crochet tools, an animal purse or cell phone holder. Then move into amigurumi patterns. (Homeschool parents, please contact us if you are interested in a homeschool crochet class.)

Open Stitch with Mama Lohde  QF042

(All Levels) Students will learn wool applique and hand embroidery stitches, wool quilting techniques, plus many of Hanne’s tricks and methods to make your stitching easier and make your own embroidery even more beautiful! There are 10 spaces so contact Hanne at mamalohde@gmail.com to sign up. Bring your current Mama Lohde project to work on or go to www.mamalohde.com to choose a new project. A supply list will be emailed depending on the project. Coffee and tea are served free of charge, but bring your own lunch.

Intro to Machine Sewing 1  CC030

(Level 1) Learn the basics of machine sewing... Start by learning the different parts of your sewing machine, how to thread your machine and wind your bobbin, and how to pin your material together to prepare it for sewing. Learn about seam allowance, how to sew straight lines, curved lines, and how to pivot your work. And last learn how to zig-zag on and off the edge of your fabric for a finished edge. Use your new skills to make a Kleenex holder and/or eye glass holder you will be proud to use.

Crazy Patch Embroidery  RE322

(Level 2) In each Crazy Patch Embroidery class, a different set of stitches is taught that can be made into a “stitch page", added to your crazy patch, or to a special project. In July we will be starting a journey with our new progressive wallhanging worked on a soft colored background with no print, and vintage hand embroidered laces. If you are taking on the entire project it will take four classes in order to learn the different techniques and stitches OR if you wish to work them separately you can do that also. We will be starting with the glorious snail amongst the garden flowers while utilizing our scrumptious threads.

Hand Embroidered Cards: Flowers, Birds and Hummingbirds OH-My  RE132

Teacher: Sue Pletl. (All Levels) Have fun creating four unique hand embroidered cards: a beautiful golden butterfly with sequin flowers, a birdhouse with little blue bird, a sparkled hummingbird with sea foam flowers, and… Sue’s first semi-custom card!! Learn the stem stitch, straight stitch, back stitch, French knot and what Sue calls the lavender stitch or skewer stitch as you can make the flowers any color you want. You'll leave with all the knowledge and tools to create beautiful hand embroidered cards on your own!

(All Levels) Whether you’re just beginning to sew or are looking to level up your work, this class will help you develop your skills. Beginners, who know how to thread their machines and sew a straight line, can choose to make a tote bag, or a simple skirt or top. Knitting with Nadine – Watercolor Shawl or Eyelet Ponchette   CA056

(Levels 1 & 2) Choose between two original Nadine designed projects: Paint a unique Watercolor Shawlette with your knitting needles! Learn to knit and relax with the lovely drape and airy texture of this shawlette. You will learn: long tail cast on, knit stitch, knit 1 front and back increase, traditional bind-off and stretchy bind-off OR The all-season Knitted Eyelet Ponchette will take you fashionably through the seasons of the year, and is a great introduction to pattern reading for a second or third knitting project. Learn to read and follow a written knitting pattern over an easy 8-row eyelet rib stitch. (Very beginners could leave the eyelet row off). Learn to bind off the end of the work while attaching it to the opposite side edge to create the point. It’s so easy to throw over any outfit!

Knitting with Nadine – Rippling Current Shawl or Picot Primrose Scarf   CA055

(Levels 1a & 2) Choose between two original Nadine designed projects: The Rippling Current Shawl will add intriguing texture and dimension to your wardrobe. Relax as you knit through the peacefulness of the current's ebb and flow with this single and double yarn over wrap wave stitch pattern. Learn to read a written knitting pattern while learning to increase the shawl width with yarn overs OR Lend vintage Victorian inspired texture and dimension to your wardrobe! The Picot Primrose Scarf begins with a ruffled edge, next to the main border. Sections are worked in a delicate primrose lace pattern and finished with a dainty picot edge bind off. The scarf is worked horizontally. Learn to read and follow a charted pattern while learning to increase with a yarn over and decrease stitches. Learn to make a ruffle and to create the picot bind off.

Knit and Crochet with Sheilah — Illusion Scarf or Flying Foxtail Scarf  CA057

(Level 2) Bring your unfinished “Sheilah” project or choose between two new projects… Illusion Knitted Scarf: Using no more than your simple knit and purl skills, you can make the most incredible scarf. If you view the Illusion Knit Scarf from one angle, you will see only stripes. But when you view it from a different angle, you'll suddenly see squares with triangles of color! OR Flying Foxtail Scarf — Brioche Knitting: Stephen West has given Sheilah permission to alter his Flying Foxtail pattern to be a much more manageable scarf instead of a blanket, and she has re-written it to make it as easy as possible. Learn the unique I-cord cast-on and the two-color Brioche Knitting techniques as well as the Italian bind off.

(Level 2) Karen is pleased to offer Di van Niekerk’s breathtaking embroidered project which will enhance your embroidery skills and talents. Working on a printed cotton panel, Karen will demonstrate many techniques and teach the following: overcast stitches, thread work, ribbon and organza work and much more.
